Find Peace in 20 Minutes

My introduction to meditation was during my trip to Thailand. I was a bright eyed girl ready to partake in anything so there I was sitting crossed legged with mosquitos and bugs surrounding me thinking...thinking...thinking...this meditation thing was hard! There was no instruction or guidance, just everyone sitting and looking peaceful. I was like huh, ok...I don't know if I am doing this right. Later, after talking with some of the other students, I found out that I was meditating, just as I should have been. Sitting there watching thoughts come and go, feeling and hearing the mosquitos and bugs buzzing and crawling around me. That's what we woke up at 5am for...to sit and breathe and watch, listen, notice, smell, and hear it all! That was all there was too it. I have to say, it was one of the best parts of the trip because I was in complete awareness of the moment and I was so grateful for the trip of a lifetime. We would start every morning dark and early, overlooking the beautiful Lahu Village in meditation followed by yoga. Meditation is kind of like taking photos; you capture moments where you see the real view, the real truth, and it can not be altered. You are in the here and now and you can choose to appreciate the good and accept the bad. It is a learning tool for your journey through life!

After Thailand, I have to say I became a crisis meditator...meaning I would only meditate if I was in a rough patch in my life and I needed direction. I remember one particular day of crisis that I starting to incorporate mantra's into my life. I didn't even know what a mantra was but I was in need of serious help!! I had an emergency cyst infection in my sinus and it had to be drained asap. I was so scared that I thought the only way I could get through this is if I repeat the word "strength" over and over and over silently in my head. It worked!! I was calm and the staff and physician started my IV and I was good to go! It was the "mantra" that I used to block any negative or anxiety provoking thoughts into my mind. I was strength because I told myself that I was!

Now, years later, I have made meditation practice a priority. I opened a space and made a cozy corner in the bedroom with my mediation pillow all set up so all I have to do is go in and sit! I also opened space in my schedule to take the time for mindfulness. I don't have to be in Thailand or in some beautiful, perfect place to do it. My eyes are closed anyway so the scenery

does't matter; what matters is that I do it constantly, everyday, without excuses and without criticism.

Now, I share with you my meditation video with instruction and guidance to help you mind stay in the moment and on the mantra. :)

Thank you for taking the time with me!

Please let me know if you enjoy the video and like it on YouTube. Also, tell me if you would like video's centered on a particular subject or style. Let me know how I can support you!

Much love and peace to you all!!
